Apocalypto is

a film directed in 2006 by Mel Gibson. The action takes place in Mexico before the first contact with the M ayan civilization of Europe. The film is based on the text of the Popol Vuh, and communications of the Spanish missionaries. This is a story full of blood showing life decaying Mayan civilization to collapse, their hunting, tribal war, or submission of bloody human sacrifices. Characters from the movie is played in most of the Mexicans - the descendants of the indigenous peoples of this area, and the language used in the film is still used to the old Mayan dialect - yucatec.
